Recently for break my mom, dad and I went to the beautiful city and capital of Puerto Rico, San Juan. In San Juan there is an endless amount of things you can do whether it be going to Old San Juan and visiting its many shops and restaurants or going to the beautiful beaches there. When we went to San Juan we mainly spent a lot of time in Old San Juan the most. Old San Juan has many colorful streets as pictured above. As well as the colorful streets In Old San Juan there are many unique shops as well as restaurants.

Around the Old San Juan area there is two very old forts one fort is Castillo San Felipe del Morro San Juan and Castillo de San Cristobal. To tour these Forts you have to buy tickets. To buy the tickets there should be an area outside of the fort to buy them. After you buy them you should get a receipt and this receipt can be used for both forts. Don’t worry the tickets will be worth it since as well as seeing what it was like when soldiers lived in the forts you also see amazing views. When you tour the forts there should be different rooms where they are set up like they were when soldiers were stationed at the fort and lived there. You get to see their living quarters and the kitchen and dining room they used. You can also climb up a staircase to see where the soldiers kept their cannons and other weapons. At each fort there will be a lot of walking involved so be prepared for that. After you finish exploring the fort you will definitely be hungry and tired. So all you have to do is go back to Old San Juan where there are restaurants of every cuisine. From Italian and Chinese to classic Puerto Rican cuisine there is a restaurant for everyone.

In Old San Juan another good place to visit is a street that is covered with umbrellas (4th picture). This street covered with umbrellas is actually newer well the umbrellas added are. But the reason for this is because it was supposed to give hope to the citizens of Puerto Rico after the hurricane hit it in 2018. The impact of this hurricane was devastating. A tour guide we had explained how he was luckily the only one who had power and his house was fine while other houses around his were destructed. He had to house people in his home since they had nowhere to go and he also was the one who everyone went to when they needed electricity. From this hurricane the branches of trees feel down.

In San Juan there are also many good hotels in certain areas although expensive. The hotel I stayed at is San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. This hotel is definitely on the more expensive side but it is right on the beach and has a pool as well as a club and a buffet breakfast in the hotel. By this hotel there is also a good ice cream place and a Starbucks across the street. As well as the Starbucks restaurant there is also a good Italian Pizza Place that also serves Breakfast. On the street of this hotel there are many restaurants that are good. Another cool attraction you can try if you plan ahead is visiting Bioluminescent Bay. In the day time this bay is like any normal bay but during the night time inside the cave everywhere it’s glowing. To enter this bay you have to know how to kayak. But maybe if you are lucky you might find a good boat tour where you don’t have to do anything and can just enjoy the beauty of the bay. Lastly another good place to visit in San Juan that is higher up in the mountains is El Yunque National Rainforest. This rainforest is one of Puerto Rico’s and the Caribbean’s most precious national resources. This rainforest covers a total of 28,000 acres and I would recommend finding a good guided tour since the tour guides usually know the best places to go to in the rainforest. As I explained in San Juan there is a never ending amount of things you can do and explore. For your next vacation try going to San Juan, Puerto Rico. You won’t regret it!
