The Florida Keys is a great place to vacation whether it be for a long vacation or short trip. My family stayed in the Keys for a weekend. We drove to different keys in Florida which was amazing since all around you there is crystal clear blue oceans. For our first day arriving we went to a hotel and stayed overnight at Key Largo. We got to our hotel a little bit late so we couldn’t do much, but nearby our hotel there was a historical boat called The African Queen. This boat was used in an old 1951 movie called African Queen which starred Katherine Hepburn and Humprey Bogart. This boat docked in Key Largo is the exact one that was used in the movie and went around the world. It’s not a replica. Key Largo has some good places to stay. One of these places is the picture above with a pool in it. We walked around a little bit in the area and got dinner at a place called Lazy Lobster. Lazy Lobster mainly has seafood and it was hard to find a place to eat in Key Largo that had vegetarian options since my family is vegetarian. Lazy Lobster though they mainly serve seafood was able to adapt to our needs and changed some non vegetarian pastas and made them vegetarian. It still tasted good. That was all we did for our first day.

For our second day we drove a few hours to Key West. Key West has a good town area where there are many different shops where you can buy trinkets and souvenirs. In Key West there is also an important point which is one of the most photographed and visited places in the US. This point is called Southernmost point. At this point there is a colorful buoy which is the closest point to Cuba. To be exact 90 miles from Cuba. To get a picture with this buoy there was actually a long line. It took about half an hour.

After that in the area we went to Ernest Hemingway’s house. This is a great place to go to for big readers. You have to buy tickets for this. But it is worth it. You get to see exactly how Ernest Hemingway’s house was arranged with the exact furniture he used and the exact rooms he used. Everywhere around his house outside or inside there are cats everywhere. (Shown in the picture above) Since he believed cats brought good luck. Maybe if your lucky you’ll also be able to see some rare six toed cats which are at his house.

But overall it wouldn’t be the best idea for people with cat allergies to go there. In the picture above you will see what seems to be a quarter sealed in glass. This quarter is the exact one Ernest Hemingway’s wife threw on the ground in the middle of a fight over money with him.

After we spent time in Key West we drove another few hours back to our hotel and got ready to go on a glass bottom cruise. This is a cool experience since on the bottom level of the boat there is glass and you can see the plants and different animals under the boat. But be aware you shouldn’t constantly stare at the bottom of the boat since you will get nauseous and possibly throw up. On the bottom level you can also see and feel the boat rocking very much. So it isn’t the best for people who get easily motion sick to get on the boat. But on this boat you can also go to the top level where you can see amazing sunsets and feel the cool ocean breeze. The views I saw were pictured above.

Finally for the last day my family just went to one place, Theater of the Seas. We only had time for this since we had our flight back home that same day. What Theater of the Seas is is that it is a place with different aquatic animals with their own shows. Some of these animals include alligators, dolphins and sea lions. As well as aquatic animals they still have shows for animals who aren’t aquatic. An example of one of these shows is a show they have parrots. This show is pretty entertaining. You see parrots doing math and other cool tricks. The Florida Keys is an amazing place to visit and you’ll see amazing sights like the clear blue waters. I hope after you read this you’ll want to go since it’s a place that shouldn’t be missed.
